Coach Tyler Allen is in his 6th season as head basketball coach at South Salem High School with an overall record of 108-38. In the last three seasons South Salem has won 3 straight league titles along with three straight appearances in the OSAA State Tournament finishing 3rd, 4th, and 3rd respectively. Last year Coach Allen graduated his first D1 athlete in Christian Russell who walked on at Oregon State.
The Saxons will play fast, entertaining basketball with transition scoring as the main emphasis. Jaden Nielsen-Skinner, who started every game as a freshmen, will run the show for South Salem and look to get his teammates in positions to score.
Last season South Salem kept 3 year manager Elijah Schwartz on the roster for his senior year. During his senior season he made multiple 3’s along with the first 3 of a game in which he got to start. At the end of the year Statesman Journal honored him with the Heart and Desire Award. This year he is part of the Chemeketa Community Transition Program and still an active role with the South Salem basketball program. His motivation, energy, and inspiration have been a positive impact for the entire program.
